...are such flakers. Seriously, what is the percentage of legit buyers vs the number of people who contact you? I just listed my first flip (shout out to Apidaonline) on craigslist Saturday night, and got two hits immediately. Exchanged some emails about the car, both "prospective" buyers "seemed" very interested and wanted to come see the car today. I told them, no problem. Anytime after 5pm. So what happens today? Radio Silence. I mean how hard is it to send a text/email etc that you can't make it? It takes 3 seconds, its called common courtesy.
This isn't the first time I have sold via craigslist. I sold some furniture a few years ago that went well, first guy came bought it (i priced it too cheap). I feel bad for humanity, i really do. Do people just scroll craigslist wasting time inquiring about things they have less than 10% intent of actually buying?
End rant.

The reason you got radio silence is that someone likely found another car before yours, and people are often flaky, especially when they have nothing on the line. I almost exclusively sell on ebay. It's around $60 to list, but I rarely, if ever get flakers. Craigslist is a huge time waster since a lot of people simply want joy rides or come with no cash or lowball. I buy on craigslist and sell elsewhere.

Apida, I monitored the sold/completed listings on ebay for same make/model I am selling for a good 3 weeks to determine market value. I am perfectly ok with selling for the avg sold price on ebay, problem is, that in the past two weeks 3 or 4 of those solds were relisted due to non paying bidders. Am i still responsible for the fee if they don't pay? Seems like a terrible waste of time to get stuck with a non paying bidder. I have sold on ebay before, just not a car lol.
Also, how do post a sentence or two in a post before the "jump" to the actual post?

I don't have experience selling cars on ebay but from my experience selling electronics I would one hundred percent agree with this. I got so many "I will pay you $100 over your asking price but I am out of the country. Please ship it to my Aunt's address in North Carolina. I will send you a check." Their relatives always lived in coastal states. Ebay and paypal only cuts out all the BS.

Usually, if a person has a decent and recent ebay feedback, they're fine. If you do have a bidder that has low feedback and is unresponsive, I cancel their bid, which is pretty easy to do. I always contact the high bidders well before the auction closes to make sure they're responsive. You're responsible for listing fees each time, which is a drag, but there's no final value fee on cars. The good thing is that you'll at least have a deposit before anyone comes to see the car.
I'm not sure what you mean about posting a sentence before the actual post. I'm sure you can just link it here without making a separate post.

I feel for you man.
I have an 80s ATC that was on CL up till last week. I just decided it was easier on my sanity to keep it.
The one guy that actually came to look at it told me "I need something quieter because I want to take my daughter for rides and loud things scare her"..
WTF?
Idiots that want to ride two up on a 3 wheeler are part of the reason 3 wheelers were outlawed.

If you price things reasonably, I've found that cars, motorcycles, parts for non-rare vehicles, etc. are fairly easy to sell. The exception comes right around the $5k mark. When you start going above that, the people that have cash to buy your car/bike are much less common, and many of the less educated/interested would rather take their business to a dealership than gamble on a private seller, even if most of the used cars at dealerships are either trade-ins or auction cars.
But, yes, there are stupid people that want to waste your time. Luckily, they are fairly easy to spot. I had some used RX-8 rims and tires I was selling cheap. I was fully honest with the disclosure - they sat, they needed to be polished if you want them to shine, the rear tires are shot but good for one more autocross/hooning, and the fronts are 50%.
The first response was a scammer. He offered to send me a money order with extra money to pay someone to pick up the rims. I said sure, but the problem was the rims are in a storage shed and I'm late on my fees so I need him to Western Union my friend in Nigeria so I an get them out. :P
The second interested party asked why he should buy my rims/tires instead of buying new ones. So I was honest with him. If he can get four new rims with tires for $250, then he should definitely do that.
The third person asked what condition they were in. I told him I have pictures and a description in the ad. He got mad because subtly pointing out how retarded he sounded made him feel bad.
But the fourth person was nice, had cash, and bought them in what equated to a 5 minute transaction.
eBay definitely has less assholes and is safer, but some things are too bulky to list and ship while still making a profit. The only real bad experience I had with eBay was selling a 12A turbo off of a Starion. The thing had 3-5k miles on it and was never ran low on oil, but the seller claimed it had massive shaft play. I offered to show him the receipt that came from the previous owner and was willing to refund his money if he shipped it back, but for some strange reason he wasn't willing to do that. He wanted a partial refund. I refused, and was willing to open a dispute with eBay, but for some reason he declined...
